Owls and Oolong by Shari L. Tapscott:
4 stars
Losing someone you love is hard enough, but having it followed up with a complicated will and a three-year commitment is ridiculous. Kit has inherited a house, a fortune, a business, and a talking owl with opinions. However, she has to live in the house and keep the business running for three years to finalize the inheritance. It should have been easy enough, but there are transformations to be reversed, handsome men to flirt with, and a pixie-draining businessman to avoid. No problem!
When I first read the description, a little idea popped into my head, and I hoped Ms. Tapscott had been on the same wavelength when she wrote this. She was! The romance worked out just as Iād hoped. I loved the snarky owl, the residents of Moss Hollow, the rock shop, summer pixie magic, and learning about teas.
The world is rich and charming, with lots of interesting businesses; the characters have individual personalities, and somehow the rude ones are more fun; the pacing was excellent, and the style was on point. I wanted a quick, cozy read, and this delivered. Owls and Oolong has so much of the typical cozy setup, but it makes it feel fresh and unique.
