The Billionaire’s Wake-Up-Call Girl by Annika Martin:

Lizzie parlayed her social media savvy into a marketing job with an impressive signing bonus — if she can last thirty days. And she has to; her neck is quite literally on the line. However, things go from bad to worse, and then, from catastrophic to steamy. When Lizzie is tasked with arranging a wake-up call service for her boss, Theo — who has quite the reputation — no company is willing to take him on. So, Lizzie steps in herself…and ends up venting about everything he does wrong. And he likes it.
The Billionaire’s Wake-up-Call Girl is certainly an eye-catching title. If I hadn’t seen an Instagram ad first, I might have passed it by — and I would have missed out. While the story includes familiar romance elements — billionaire dynamics, power imbalance, complicated pasts — it also brings a refreshing sense of originality.
The wake-up call premise felt surprisingly believable to me. I’ve known someone who needed serious persistence to wake up, so the idea isn’t far-fetched. The accidental oversharing on those calls stretches reality a bit, but in a fun, relatable way — we’ve all experienced moments where something unintended was overheard. It’s unlikely, sure, but the story embraces that improbability and turns it into something wildly entertaining.
This is definitely a spicy romance — more than I usually gravitate toward, but I appreciate how Lizzie and Theo build a connection before truly “meeting”. Theo benefits from Lizzie’s honesty, and Lizzie finds an outlet to speak her mind. There’s a steamy, modern echo of You've Got Mail in their early interactions. Their conversations carry real emotional weight, leading to meaningful character growth. I especially enjoyed how some development happens off-page, creating satisfying reveals later. I said, “Ooooh!” out loud!
Lizzie’s fierce independence is appealing, and I liked watching her recognize that compromise doesn’t mean losing herself. Theo’s vulnerability and relationship uncertainty feel grounded, and his emotional arc rings true. While Sasha leans a bit predictable, characters like Mia, Willow, and Lizzie’s coworkers and parents add warmth and charm.
Overall, The Billionaire’s Wake-up-Call Girl is an engaging, humorous romance with a surprising amount of heart. It’s light, lively, and genuinely uplifting — and Theo is no match for baby goats and cookies.
