What is Audaciter Press?

The imprint where it all began…

By Thio Isobel Moss

I read on a website selling Blind Spot that my book might be self-published, but the site could not confirm that.

For all those in doubt, Blind Spot is absolutely, 100% self-published.

The publishing imprint on Blind Spot: The Covenant’s Forfeit, and of the soon-to-be-released Bump: A Palmetto Predator Novel, is listed as Audaciter Press. If you go to http://audaciterpress.com, you will find a single page advertising books, tabletop RPGs, and AI with a link to my website.

At this point in time, Audaciter Press is only an imprint—a placeholder for a larger dream.

Not long after I got serious about writing Blind Spot, my brother, Oz, announced that he was building a game using AI. After discussing our projects, our personal ambitions, and our unique skills, we decided to form Audaciter Press.

“Audaciter” stems from our family motto, and the rampant lion on our logo is from our family coat of arms.

“Press” was chosen because Blind Spot was the first of our projects to reach completion, although Oz’s game has been playable for some time. One of our cousins has bestowed the nickname “Feature Creep” upon him, since he’s still tinkering and perfecting his creation.

While we plan for there to be storyline crossovers and significant collaboration, Audaciter Press is two business fronts under one umbrella. My dream is to use what I’ve learned as a writer to create and offer those services I have needed most. I have a laundry list of ideas already, but this will be an extensive process. Eventually, I hope it will be a “press” in truth, capable of publishing both mine and our clients' books.

First, however, there will be free features on my website, such as The Weather Report (coming soon). I want to have a stronger foundation before adding new projects, so even this will take a good few years—time to build some credibility, as well.

Oz’s side of things is likely to be more exciting. His game should be released soon, and he is constantly experimenting with AI. The things he can do blow my mind. He is currently building me a specialized AI assistant.

As a quick reminder, I do use AI as an editing, image, marketing, and information tool. I do not use AI to generate content for my books. I greatly look forward to a time when I can afford to have artists create custom artwork for my books. In the meantime, I am overwhelmingly grateful that such tools exist.

The AI assistant that Oz is creating for me will help with continuity within each series and crossover series; it will be able to analyze my style and identify strengths and weaknesses; and (hallulujah!) it will assist with marketing plans. I took a few marketing courses in college, but they were not enough preparation for this!

It’s a very exciting time for us. We have moved out of dreamland and taken concrete steps toward making Audaciter Press more than an imprint. Things that have seemed like pie in the sky are coming together, and we can’t wait to share this journey with you!
