What my characters think they look like vs. what they actually look like:

Ally Benson is that type of shy, quiet girl who tries to disappear when among her peers. It doesn’t work, though; they have a sixth sense for the vulnerable and insecure. Frequent moves throughout her childhood and frequent bullying has cemented the belief that she’s plain and unlikable.

Those not looking to puff themselves up by pounding another down have noticed something, though. When Ally talks about art, music, or books, she comes alive. Her intelligence shows; her curiosity and wit are on display. When she’s consumed with her passions, she is unstoppable.
